Djibril Coulibaly

Djibril Coulibaly, born in Dakar, grew up in the artistic district of Médina and was influenced from an early age by the Village des Arts of Soumbedioune.

Passionate about drawing since the age of eight, he distinguished himself in middle school by winning several competitions, which led his visual arts teacher to encourage him to enroll at the École des Beaux-Arts de Dakar.

He joined the school in 2019 through evening classes, while simultaneously pursuing studies in Graphic and Digital Arts at the Virtual University of Senegal, and obtained his degree in 2023. At the beginning of his career, he created figurative portraits of public figures and religious leaders.

In search of a unique artistic signature, he explored various forms of expression through spiritual meditation and deep introspection. In 2024, after re ecting on a verse from the Qur’an referring to the signs of God in nature, he experienced a revelation: his fingerprints contain a natural and universal pattern, which he decided to incorporate as the central element of his art.
