Latifa Pouye
Born in 1975 in Dakar, Latifa POUYE left her native country shortly after birth to live in Central Africa and later in France. It was only at the age of 20 that she was able to rediscover her homeland, Senegal. This return to her roots marked a decisive turning point in her life and artistic career. Drawing inspiration from the life around her and the diverse cultures influencing her, she embarked on a self-taught artistic journey, exploring various techniques and styles, and developing her unique artistic identity.
Her painting is characterized by its unconscious and intuitive nature. Experimenting with different techniques and employing a variety of colors and materials, she breathes life into her creations. Over the years, she has participated in numerous national and international exhibitions, where her works have been highly appreciated and recognized by critics and the public alike. She has thus crafted a unique style of her own. Her paintings are often imbued with vibrant and lively colors, capturing the essence of nature. She enjoys playing with contrasts, blending warm and cool colors to create lively and dynamic compositions. Her subjects also vary, ranging from expressive abstract portraits to abstract landscapes.
Beyond her artistic career, our artist is actively involved in social and cultural projects abroad. She is convinced of the power of art to inspire, educate, and bring people together. She regularly organizes workshops and community projects, providing a platform for young budding artists to express their creativity. The story of this self-taught painter is a true testament to the strength of passion and determination.
