Pragya Jha

Born in 1987, Pragya Jha began her professional journey as a software engineer before transitioning into art.

A self-taught folk artist, she works primarily in Madhubani, Gond, and Bhil traditions. Deeply inspired by nature and photography, her work reflects close observation of natural forms and rhythms. Currently based in Senegal, her art explores a cross-cultural dialogue between Indian and African influences. Pragya continues to refine her artistic language through ongoing learning and interaction with master practitioners of Indian folk art, alongside workshops conducted by India’s Ministry of Culture under the Roots to Roots programme.
