Angela Franklin

Angela Franklin is a textile mixed-media artist whose practice functions at the intersection of social justice, communal healing, and cultural preservation. Through the intricate layering of fiber and found materials, she translates complex oral histories and rich narratives into tactile, large-scale visual testimonies. Franklin has lived in Dakar, Senegal, for more than 20 years, but is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio. She has also lived and worked in the United Arab Emirates, Nigeria, and the Marshall Islands. Her global journey has shaped her perspective and artworks, and this international trajectory informs her exploration of the African Diaspora and the universal threads of human resilience.

She holds a BA in Art from Xavier University, an MFA in Fine Arts from Bradley University, and an MA in Online Education and Leadership Management from Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU) in Dubai. Her work serves as a narrative bridge, exploring and chronicling the lived experiences of the African Diaspora. Her art testifies to shared philosophies and the complex intersections between self-identity and global cultures, with a focus on social justice, communal healing, and cultural preservation.
